Pairing on Small Clusters in the Peierls-hubbard Model: Implications for C 60
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the pairing within the Peierls-HubbardModel for electronand hole-doped analogs of C60 accessible to exact diagonalization techniques (cube, truncated tetrahedron, etc.). We discuss how inclusion of electronphonon interactions can substantially modify the conclusions about pairing obtained when this coupling is neglected. We also discuss potential pitfalls in the extrapolation from these small system calculations to C60, and stress the necessity of having the correct intuitive picture.

CANONICAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE HUBBARD MODEL AND W=0 PAIRING: COMPARISON WITH EXACT DIAGONALIZATION RESULTS MICHELE CINI, ADALBERTO BALZAROTTI RAFFAELLA BRUNETTI, MARIA GIMELLI and GIANLUCA STEFANUCCI
We have recently developed a canonical transformation of the Hubbard and related models, valid for systems of arbitrary size and for the full plane; this is particularly suited to study hole pairing. In this work we show that exact diagonalization results of the one band Hubbard model for small clusters with periodic boundary conditions agree well with the analytical ones obtained by means of o...
متن کاملNumerical Results for the Hubbard Model: Implications for the High Tc Pairing Mechanism
Numerical studies of the Hubbard model and its strong-coupling form, the t-J model, show evidence for antiferromagnetic, dx2−y2-pairing and stripe correlations which remind one of phenomena seen in the layered cuprate materials. Here, we ask what these numerical results imply about various scenarios for the pairing mechanism. PACS: 74.20Mn, 71.10Fd, 71.10 Pm Typeset using REVTEX ∗[email protected]...
متن کاملStudy of the ionic Peierls-Hubbard model using density matrix renormalization group methods
Density matrix renormalization group methods are used to investigate the quantum phase diagram of a one-dimensional half-filled ionic Hubbard model with bond-charge attraction, which can be mapped from the Su-SchriefferHeeger-type electron-phonon coupling at the antiadiabatic limit. A bond order wave (dimerized) phase which separates the band insulator from the Mott insulator always exists as l...
متن کاملModeling electron-electron interactions in reduced-dimensional materials: Bond-charge Coulomb repulsion and dimerization in Peierls-Hubbard models.
To the conventional Peierls-Hubbard model, involving both on-site ( U) and nearest-neighbor ( V) Coulomb repulsions, we add "o5'-diagonal" terms, not expressible purely in terms of site densities, representing bond-bond ( F) and mixed bond-site (X) electron-electron repulsive interactions involving nearest neighbors. We review earlier analyses of these interactions and discuss relative magnitud...
متن کاملQuantum Monte Carlo Evidence for d-wave Pairing in the 2D Hubbard Model at a van Hove Singularity
We implement a Quantum Monte Carlo calculation for a repulsive Hubbard model with nearest and next-nearest neighbor hopping interactions on clusters up to 12 × 12. A parameter region where the Fermi level lies close to the van Hove singularity at the Saddle Points in the bulk band structure is investigated. A pairing tendency in the dx2−y2 symmetry channel, but no other channel, is found. Estim...
